Renewable Heat Initiative ( RHI )

The term ‘renewable heat’ means heat generating technologies that do not use up a non-replaceable resources such as coal, gas or oil.

There are many specific technologies, however the most popular are Biomass, Biogas and ground source and air source heat pumps.

The Renewable Heat Incentive ( RHI ) is a payment from the government for every kWh of heat energy produced by renewable energy.
In the UK’s case this scheme will come into effect in April 2011 and applies to installations of all sizes. There is a bonus for installations which export heat to other sites.

The scheme is currently in its consultitve stage and these figures are only indicative. We will update this page as more is known.
